Fire Systems Designer

About the role

A nationally operating specialist fire protection contractor, employing more than 200 staff across fire, hydraulic and electrical services, is looking for a Fire Systems Designer. The company designs, installs and services fire safety systems in residential and commercial buildings across Australia. The position is permanent and based in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document building fire protection systems from concept to detailed design, coordinating with electrical, mechanical and hydraulic disciplines.
• Manage your own workload and carry out regular site inspections, including liaising with clients and other business professionals.
• Produce engineering drawings for various fire protection systems.
• Undertake hydraulic calculations using Hyena software or similar.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, consultants and authorities.
• Help develop and build the interstate design team.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• At least two years of fire system design experience.
• Firm understanding of the fire industry and Australian Standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team, handle complex situations positively and show a good work ethic.
• Candidates must currently reside in Australia.

Required skills

• AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Hydraulic calculations in Hyena or similar software.
• Excel, Word and Outlook.
