Financial & Tax Accountant – Sydney (Mandarin speaking)

About the role

We are seeking a Mandarin‑speaking Financial & Tax Accountant to join a well‑established financial services organisation in Sydney. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage day‑to‑day finance operations while taking ownership of Australian tax compliance and supporting financial reporting, audits and process‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial operations, including payment processing, journal entries, reconciliations and documentation.
• Prepare and lodge Australian tax obligations such as BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax and Corporate Income Tax.
• Support tax governance, compliance and risk management, maintain documentation and assist with ATO reviews and audits.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, financial and regulatory reporting.
• Contribute to the development of finance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits, finance projects and continuous process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Fluent in English and Mandarin (essential).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualified (or nearing completion).
• Minimum 3 years' experience in financial accounting and taxation within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of Australian taxation (GST, BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, Corporate Income Tax).
• Sound knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting systems.
• Exposure to Power BI, Tableau or similar reporting tools is advantageous.
