Financial Controller – Consumer Products (Sydney)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Financial Controller to join a fast‑growing, PE‑backed consumer products business in Sydney. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the private‑equity sponsor, you will own the day‑to‑day finance function and drive the next level of control, forecasting and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close, balance‑sheet integrity, inventory and cost accounting, and both statutory and management reporting.
• Lead cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital management to give the CFO and sponsor clear liquidity visibility.
• Coordinate tax compliance (BAS/GST, payroll tax, income tax) and manage relationships with external advisers.
• Take responsibility for payroll accuracy, compliance and robust controls.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives across ERP, automation, reporting and financial controls.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified with a strong technical accounting foundation.
• Background in a large corporate environment plus recent experience in a growing SME or PE‑backed business.
• Proven senior finance or financial‑control experience, preferably in consumer products or manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and lead a finance team and influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Expertise in ERP implementation or improvement.
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
• Strong cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital management.
• Working knowledge of Australian tax and payroll obligations.
• Experience with audit, lender and covenant reporting.
