Financial Accountant

About the role

Covetrus is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Sydney (Erskine Park) office on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager in Brisbane, you will provide accurate and timely financial information for the wholesale distribution and software businesses across Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end journals, accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Provide variance analysis and supplementary reporting for management and US reporting purposes.
• Manage day‑to‑day financials of the software business and support the software team.
• Own processes and P&L accounts related to fixed assets and operating leases.
• Load financial data into the US reporting system and assist with statutory financial statements and external auditors.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and support compliance with the global internal control framework.
• Participate in various projects and business‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce with CA/CPA (or working towards).
• At least three years of experience in a large commercial accounting environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse internal stakeholders.
• Effective time‑management and a proactive, continuous‑improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
