Finance Officer

About the role

Whizdom is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Finance Team in Canberra. The role supports day‑to‑day finance operations, payroll processing and compliance activities, reporting to the Finance Team Lead. It is suitable for candidates with payroll experience or recent graduates starting a finance career.

Key responsibilities

• Process contractor timesheets and assist with monthly staff payroll, including leave balances and superannuation.
• Support invoicing, payment processing and taxation obligations.
• Assist with month‑end reconciliations, journal entries and preparation of management, budget and annual financial reports.
• Manage salary packaging arrangements such as novated leases and LAFHA.
• Ensure compliance with state and territory licensing requirements and other regulatory obligations.
• Input financial data into MYOB and internal systems, manage timesheets and payroll invoice filing.
• Run financial reports (e.g., aged receivables) and follow up outstanding payments.
• Monitor shared finance/admin inboxes and support ad‑hoc finance and operational tasks.
