Finance Manager – Commercial & Reporting

About the role

The Finance Manager – Commercial & Reporting partners with Commercial, ITC, Sales, Treasury and Commercial Finance functions to ensure compliance with group controls and procedures. The role also mentors an offshore senior analyst and collaborates with shared services such as HR, Legal, Finance, Marketing and Admin.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee GL operational transaction processing for Commercial and MSG&A accounts, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, global/local standards and IFRS awareness.
• Drive month‑end close activities, produce internal financial statements and provide commentary translating variances into actionable insights.
• Deliver analytical support for AR aging, cash allocation, bad‑debt provision and forecasting, and monitor AR health.
• Coordinate commercial accounting topics (sales reversals, returns, bad debt) with Sales Finance and stakeholders.
• Partner with ITC to improve AR and trade‑spend control processes, including standardisation and Excel‑enabled automation.
• Review balance‑sheet reconciliations, provide technical accounting guidance to Shared Services, and support external audit timelines.
• Work with Internal Controls on compliance tasks, SOX testing and remediation of audit findings.
• Coach and develop the Senior Analyst, overseeing deliverables and guidance.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
• Big 4 or second‑tier public practice experience is desired.
• Strong attention to detail, logical thinking and clear communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, collaborate across the organisation and manage stakeholder queries.
• Self‑motivated, team‑player attitude with a qualified accounting designation (CPA, CA or equivalent).

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with major ERP systems such as BPCS or SAP.
• Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and principles; familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS is a plus.
