Finance Data Specialist
Megaport · Brisbane
Job description
About the role
Megaport, a global Network as a Service provider headquartered in Brisbane, is hiring a Finance Data Specialist for its Finance and Data Platforms team. The role owns the organisation's finance data, planning and reporting platforms: it develops and administers the IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) environment, builds and maintains Power BI reporting, and acts as the finance data owner for the curated datasets in Databricks. It works closely with Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting and the Data team to ensure finance data is accurate, well governed and reconcilable to source systems.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and administer TM1 models for budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and management reporting, including cubes, dimensions, hierarchies, rules and feeders, and maintain TurboIntegrator processes and the Planning Analytics environment.
- Maintain TM1 documentation and support Planning Analytics for Excel users.
- Build Power BI semantic models, reports and dashboards using Power Query (M) and DAX, with row-level security, deployment pipelines and refresh schedules.
- Act as finance data owner for Databricks datasets, define their structure and relationships, and validate them before use in reporting.
- Design reconciliation and data quality checks so reported and planning data ties back to the general ledger and source systems, and maintain master data such as the chart of accounts and cost centres.
- Document models and business logic, train Finance users, and contribute to projects such as new entity onboarding and reporting uplift.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and administering IBM Planning Analytics / TM1.
- 3+ years of experience developing Power BI solutions.
- Experience working with data engineering teams and writing data requirements and specifications.
- Solid understanding of finance data and processes, including general ledger structures, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and multi-currency.
- Experience sourcing and modelling data from ERP systems (e.g. Dynamics 365 F&O, NetSuite) and HRIS platforms, and designing data reconciliation and quality controls.
Required skills
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills; familiarity with Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform (Snowflake, Synapse, Fabric).
- Power BI, DAX and Power Query (M).
- Understanding of data governance, security and access control in a finance context.
- Familiarity with source control (e.g. Git) and structured development, testing and release practices.
- Relevant certifications such as PL-300, DP-600 or IBM Planning Analytics certifications are advantageous.
