Principal Spatial Analyst

About the role

Randstad is recruiting a Principal Spatial Analyst for a Queensland Government Department, based in Brisbane CBD. The role turns complex geographical, infrastructure and telecommunications datasets into actionable evidence, designing interactive visualisations and dashboards and giving strategic advice on regional and local initiatives. Candidates must be based in Brisbane with unlimited working rights.

Key responsibilities

• Lead spatial and non-spatial analysis on telecommunications, infrastructure, land and population datasets to support strategic planning and co-investment initiatives.
• Plan, scope and deliver complex mapping requests and analytical projects from start to finish, managing competing priorities.
• Collect, cleanse, link and analyse diverse datasets, applying robust statistical methods and keeping high standards of data governance and quality control.
• Build and maintain GIS maps, spatial products, Power BI dashboards and business intelligence reports for decision-makers.
• Work with project stakeholders, data custodians and senior leaders to define analytical needs and provide technical mentorship to the team.

Required profile

• Demonstrated technical leadership across GIS and general data analysis, with sound data governance and quality practices.
• Proven track record of delivering spatial analysis projects that turn complex data into actionable insights for policy and program decisions.
• Experience building dashboards and stakeholder reports from complex non-spatial datasets.
• Background in using spatial data for land use or infrastructure planning, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or certifications in GIS or Spatial Science (highly regarded).

Required skills

• Advanced expertise with Esri's ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)
• SQL, data modelling and visualisation tools such as Power BI
