Field Service Technician - Northern Beaches

About the role

TOMRA is recruiting a Field Service Technician for its Northern Beaches area. The role keeps Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) and bulk processing systems running at peak performance across Sydney, focusing on automation, diagnostics and equipment performance. It is a hands-on, highly autonomous field-based position involving daily travel to customer sites, with a rotating roster including one weekend in three.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and servicing on TOMRA's automated recycling equipment
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, automation, sensor and communication system issues
• Install and commission RVMs and bulk processing systems at new customer sites
• Monitor equipment performance and identify ways to improve uptime and reliability
• Complete service reports and document maintenance activities and fault resolutions
• Provide customer service and technical support to site partners
• Collaborate with internal teams on continuous product and process improvements
• Carry out routine inspections, cleaning and upkeep to keep equipment safe and efficient

Required profile

• A strong work ethic, positive attitude and focus on safe work methods
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated, mechanical, electrical or industrial equipment
• Valid driver's licence, good driving record and willingness to travel throughout the service area
• Background checks include a driver history report, police check, references and pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol testing

Required skills

• Good understanding of how software and hardware integrate
• Network diagnostic skills and excellent mechanical skills with attention to detail
• Problem-solving and independent field work
• Communication, reporting and customer service skills
• Experience with electronic PCBs and connectors, motors (AC, DC, stepper, single and 3-phase), conveyor systems, ultrasonic sensors, CAN bus, automation and pneumatic systems, or similar equipment is highly regarded
