Field Environmental Scientist (Core-EP)

About the role

Core-EP is seeking an Environmental Field Scientist to support environmental field programs and project delivery in Sydney (NSW). The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on fieldwork, independent problem solving and contributing to a growing multidisciplinary team. Most of the time is spent on site, coordinating field investigations and collecting high-quality environmental data.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake fieldwork including soil, groundwater, leachate, landfill gas, vapour and asbestos sampling
• Carry out site inspections, monitoring and verification in line with technical standards
• Coordinate field activities, including subcontractor supervision, equipment planning and logistics
• Collect, manage and interpret environmental data and help with technical reporting
• Manage laboratory chain of custody and support data management in ESDAT
• Prepare safety documentation such as JSAs, SWMS and field readiness plans
• Assist senior scientists with scopes of work, fee inputs and project documentation
• Guide less experienced team members in the field and liaise with stakeholders to deliver work safely, on time and to quality standards

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience or a related discipline
• 1 to 5 years of experience in a similar industry
• Prior experience in groundwater monitoring is essential
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites, including overnight stays

Required skills

• Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills
• Understanding of relevant Australian Standards and environmental legislation
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage competing priorities
• Clear communication skills and comfort with both field and office work
• ESDAT experience desirable
