About the role
ATSILS QLD Ltd is seeking a passionate Family and Civil Law Legal Practitioner to join its Ipswich office. The position offers the chance to work on a diverse range of cases, including child protection, domestic violence, anti‑discrimination, estates and consumer protection, while contributing to social justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Key responsibilities
- Engage directly with clients daily, providing high‑quality legal advice and representation.
- Manage a caseload of Family Law matters, including child protection and domestic violence applications.
- Handle civil litigation matters such as anti‑discrimination, estates, and consumer protection disputes.
- Maintain accurate case records and comply with court procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with a supportive team while operating autonomously without billable‑hour pressure.
Required profile
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland (or eligibility for immediate admission) and a current Practising Certificate.
- Eligibility for a Queensland Government Blue Card prior to start.
- Minimum two years full‑time experience in Family and Civil Law, with exposure to domestic violence and child protection cases.
- Demonstrated resilience handling complex, high‑stakes matters.
Required skills
- Strong advocacy and client communication abilities.
- Knowledge of Queensland family law, child protection legislation, and civil litigation procedures.
- Ability to develop culturally competent services for Indigenous communities.
