Family Educator – Families as First Teachers

About the role

The Families as First Teachers Family Educator will design, develop and deliver early learning and parenting services for birth‑to‑3‑year‑old children within the Maningrida community. Working as part of Maningrida College’s Teaching and Learning Services, you will support families to enhance early childhood outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop culturally appropriate early learning programs for infants and toddlers.
• Provide parenting support and guidance to families in the community.
• Collaborate with teachers, health professionals and community leaders to align services with local needs.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and report on outcomes.
• Facilitate workshops and informational sessions for parents and caregivers.

Required profile

• Senior Teacher 1 level experience or equivalent in early childhood education.
• Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous communities and respect cultural practices.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to supporting families and improving early learning outcomes.

Required skills

• Knowledge of early childhood development frameworks.
• Experience designing and delivering family‑focused educational programs.
• Ability to assess and adapt services based on community feedback.
