Facilities Manager

About the role

Mars, a family-owned business making products for people and pets for more than 100 years, is hiring a Facilities Manager for its Food Nutrition segment. The role holds end-to-end accountability for hard and soft facilities management services across the site, overseeing critical utility systems, leading key contractor partnerships, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting environmental and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preventative and reactive maintenance of buildings, offices, lawns and gardens, signage, pressure vessels, HVAC and chiller systems
• Oversee site safety systems, fire protection, Test & Tag, RCD testing, town water supply, RPZ backflow compliance and council environmental reporting
• Manage site vehicles, pallet racking inspections and material handling equipment (forklifts, EWPs, scissor lifts)
• Act as Single Point of Contact for the integrated facilities partner (Sodexo) and lead the IMF Facilities Management contract, including performance management, SLAs and annual renewals
• Direct site waste management and environmental compliance programs toward Mars' net-zero and zero-waste-to-landfill commitments
• Use SAP PM to track, schedule and execute work orders, contractor permits and asset lifecycle plans

Required profile

• Proven track record in facilities management, building services or plant maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing, FMCG or industrial environments
• Experience managing outsourced service providers such as Sodexo or major IFM partners, with a focus on service delivery, safety standards and commercial value
• Hands-on experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS), strongly preferred SAP PM
• Understanding of Australian Standards, WHS legislation, council environmental reporting and building code compliance (fire services, electrical safety, trade waste, water backflow)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to lead diverse teams and influence contractors
