Event Director (Fixed Term)

About the role

MKTG Sports, part of dentsuaegis, is looking for an experienced Event Director (fixed term contract) to lead major brand experiences, sponsorship activations and hospitality programs across Australia's top sporting and entertainment properties. Reporting to the Head of Events, the role covers high-profile events such as the Australian Open, F1 and Cricket Australia matches, while also contributing to new business development. It is a hands-on position in a hybrid setup at the Richmond office (Office 42), running until the end of June 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end planning and delivery of sponsorship activations, fan engagement experiences, hospitality programs and branded events, on time and on budget.
• Manage multiple projects for high-profile clients and rights holders, coordinating internal teams, creative partners, contractors, venues and suppliers.
• Act as a senior advisor to clients and partners, giving strategic guidance through the event lifecycle.
• Support client growth by identifying new opportunities, helping with pitch responses and taking part in new business presentations.
• Lead and mentor team members, including 1 direct report, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading events, sponsorship activations, experiential campaigns or hospitality programs, ideally in an agency, sports, events or partnership setting.
• Able to manage teams, influence senior stakeholders and deliver complex projects with multiple workstreams and partners.
• Confident in contributing to pitches, managing budgets and growing the business.
• Connected across events, sports, sponsorship or experiential marketing, with established supplier, venue and rights-holder relationships.
• Autonomous and adaptable, able to handle changing priorities, peak periods, occasional weekends, public holidays and interstate travel.
