Estimating Lead / Estimating Manager

About the role

Laing O'Rourke, a global engineering and manufacturing-led construction company, is hiring an Estimating Lead or Estimating Manager in Adelaide. The role leads the preparation, review and submission of accurate project estimates in line with organisational standards, and supports competitive, commercially sound project bids.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and submission of accurate project estimates according to organisational standards and procedures.
• Develop realistic cost models, resource requirements and schedules to support project bids.
• Coordinate with external consultants, suppliers and stakeholders to gather estimating inputs and support tender activities.
• Monitor market pricing, industry trends, new techniques and cost benchmarks to improve estimating accuracy.
• Manage detailed cost investigations and analysis, validating estimates with robust data.
• Lead, mentor and supervise estimating team members, allocate workloads, monitor performance, ensure deadlines are met and promote safe work practices.

Required profile

• Degree qualification or equivalent in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar.
• Proven experience in estimating, cost planning and tendering on large infrastructure, construction, engineering or industrial projects.
• Demonstrated leadership, including team supervision, workload management, mentoring and performance development.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams.

Required skills

• Estimating methodologies, cost modelling, resource planning, contract administration and commercial principles.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, able to assess costs, identify risks and validate complex estimates.
• Knowledge of K2 and Team Binder.
