Entry-Level Support Worker (Mental Health)

About the role

Flourish Australia is recruiting an entry-level Support Worker for its Tamworth team, within the Accommodation team. The position is closed-term full-time (76 hours per fortnight) until May 2027, on a rotating roster including weekends, evenings and nights. It suits people new to the sector who want to be mentored by experienced teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support people with lived experience of mental health issues to maintain their wellness and reach their goals
• Accompany people on agreed routine outings such as socialisation or recreational activities
• Support people to live independently in their homes
• Build trust and shared experience with service users and model hope and recovery
• Encourage shared learning and support skill development through self-directed learning, information and education
• Deliver services in consultation with the key worker, strengths-based and person-led where possible

Required profile

• Demonstrated interest in supporting people living with a mental health issue in the community
• Commitment to recovery-based practice and alignment with Flourish Australia's values
• Current Australian driver's licence and a current First Aid certificate
• Desirable: a personal lived experience of a mental health issue and recovery
• Desirable: a Certificate IV in Peer Work or Non-Clinical Mental Health Work, or commitment to one
