Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist – Regional Hospital

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine to join a vibrant regional hospital in tropical North Queensland, serving a community of over 180,000 people. The position offers the chance to work in a multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on teaching, within an accredited Paediatric Emergency Department and active ultrasound and simulation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency medical care to adults and children in a busy regional ED.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of trainees, including SSP trainees.
• Utilise and contribute to the hospital’s ultrasound and simulation programmes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to the best clinical outcomes for patients and families.
• Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration.

Required skills

• Ultrasound proficiency.
• Simulation training experience.
