Emergency Department Registrar – Leadership Role

About the role

The Emergency Department Registrar provides hands‑on emergency medicine while delivering strong on‑the‑floor leadership to junior medical staff across Central Gippsland Health’s Sale campus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide and oversee high‑quality medical care in the Emergency Department.
• Support efficient ED operations in partnership with the Nursing Unit Manager and the Director of Critical Care & Emergency Services.
• Contribute to performance targets such as waiting times and length of stay.
• Lead planning, coordination and evaluation of ED services.
• Supervise, mentor and educate Interns, HMOs, International Medical Graduates and medical students.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent qualification enabling registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• General Registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for provisional/limited registration.
• Demonstrated experience in Emergency Medicine.
• Proven ability to supervise, support and educate junior doctors and medical students.
• Strong leadership, communication and teamwork abilities.
