Emergency Communications Officer – Burwood East

About the role

The Emergency Communications Officer (ECO) works in the Triple Zero call‑centre to receive and process both emergency and non‑emergency calls from the public and partner agencies. You will guide callers through stressful situations, ensure accurate information is captured and support the dispatch of police, fire, ambulance and VICSES services.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and triage all 000 calls, following established protocols.
• Gather critical information quickly and accurately.
• Provide calm, clear instructions to callers in distress.
• Coordinate with emergency services agencies to dispatch appropriate resources.
• Document call details in the system for post‑call analysis.
• Participate in regular training and debrief sessions.

Required profile

• Ability to remain composed under high‑pressure situations.
• Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
• Willingness to work rotating or set rosters, including nights and weekends.
• Commitment to serving the Victorian community.
