Electronics Technician – Satellite Communications

About the role

L3Harris is seeking an Electronics Technician to join the Maintenance Team at its Regional Support Centre in Pinkenba, Brisbane. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and testing Satellite Communications (SATCOM) systems to ensure rapid return to service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fault diagnosis, repair, and testing of SATCOM systems including VSAT, RF, digital, and analogue circuits.
• Operate and maintain test equipment such as spectrum analysers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, power meters, and multimeters.
• Capture diagnostic findings, repair actions, and material usage in ERP systems.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation for troubleshooting.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to peers.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and security standards.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Electronics, Communications, Electrical or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant technical maintenance or engineering experience.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.

Required skills

• Experience diagnosing and repairing RF, analogue, and digital electronic systems to module level.
• Proficiency with electronic test instrumentation and interpreting technical documentation.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, and RS-232 serial communications.
• Familiarity with SATCOM components such as BUC, LNB, power amplifiers, and antenna control systems.
• Experience with soldering and component‑level rework.
• Knowledge of military‑spec connectors (Glenair, Amphenol) and ERP data capture.
