Electricity Supply Operative (Civil Plant Operator and Labourer)

About the role

Ausgrid, the largest electricity distributor on Australia's east coast, is hiring a Civil Plant Operator and Labourer (Electricity Supply Operative) at its Ourimbah depot. Reporting to the Field Supervisor, you will provide plant operation and general labouring support for the construction and maintenance of the electricity network. The role is permanent and full-time, with hours from 7am to 3:30pm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare sites and assist with excavation and trenching
• Operate plant, machinery and vehicles, including bobcats, excavators, cable winch trucks and cranes
• Support the installation and removal of power poles and cable works
• Provide ground support and general labouring assistance to line crews
• Assist with emergency restoration work
• Act as a safety observer within your training and authorisations

Required profile

• Experience as a civil plant operator or labourer, operating plant and equipment, using tools and working safely on site
• High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) covering multiple tasks such as dogging and forklift
• Class MR driver's licence (HR driver's licence preferred)
• Knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice
• WH&S WorkCover General Induction
• Full Australian work rights

• Demonstrated experience operating plant and equipment
• Competence with hand, power-operated and specialised tools
• Asbestos awareness and safe handling of asbestos materials
• Safe manual handling techniques
• Basic computer and mobile device skills
• Clear communication with others
