Electrician - Fire (FIFO)

About the role

Wormald, a fire protection solutions provider founded in 1889, is looking for an experienced Electrician to work on fire detection and fire protection systems across mining sites in Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill. This is a full-time FIFO role on an 8-on-6-off or 9-on-5-off roster, suited to someone with an electrical trades background and experience in the fire industry, or who is willing to train.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test and fault-find fire detection and fire protection systems on surface and underground infrastructure, including fire alarms, gas suppression and emergency warning systems.
• Test interfaces between fire systems and other site systems such as PLC, BMS and shutdown systems.
• Maintain HSE responsibilities and ensure work meets contractual requirements and industry standards.
• Complete service activities efficiently and communicate with clients and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve site issues and propose improvements.

Required profile

• Current A-Class electrical licence (South Australia or an interstate equivalent).
• Current C Class driver's licence (manual vehicle).
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Strong HSE awareness, excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and work management systems.
• Passable pre-employment medical assessment and National Police Clearance.
• Preferred: fire system experience, industrial or mining experience, and fire panel programming (Vigilant, Notifier or similar); competencies such as White Card, Working at Heights, EWP and Confined Space are also preferred.
