Electrical Trades Assistant

About the role

Join the ACEREZ joint venture team to support the construction of high‑voltage switching stations and substations for the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. This is a remote‑project position based on a 14‑days on / 7‑days off roster, with travel from Sydney to the Mudgee region.

Key responsibilities

• Assist electricians with installation and assembly of 330kV/500kV switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, isolators, insulators and related components.
• Support cable hauling, cutting, laying and dressing of power and control cables in trenches, conduits and cable trays.
• Help install electrical equipment, steel structures, busbars and other switching‑station infrastructure, including drilling, bolting and fastening.
• Prepare and manage specialised tools such as drills, hydraulic crimpers and other installation equipment, and conduct pre‑start inspections.
• Provide general labour support, material handling, site preparation, housekeeping and maintain clean work areas while following safety procedures.

Required profile

• Valid Construction White Card.
• High‑risk work licence (EWPT) and Telehandler (Gold) ticket.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to obtain LVR/CPR.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and ability to work outdoors in remote environments.

Required skills

• Installation of high‑voltage switching‑station equipment.
• Cable handling, cutting and laying for power and control systems.
• Use of hand and power tools including drills, hydraulic crimpers, grinders and concrete cutters.
• Basic knowledge of steel‑structure assembly and busbar installation.
