Electrician - Paint and Finishing Maintenance

About the role

BlueScope's Springhill - Port Kembla manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrician for its Paint and Finishing Maintenance team. The Paint and Finishing department is the final step in making COLORBOND steel, where coils are coated and packaged for export and domestic customers. The main focus is fault-finding, maintaining and repairing the department's overhead cranes, ranging from 5 to 80 tonnes, including manually operated AC and DC cranes, cab-driven cranes and automated cranes.

The role is open to experienced electricians and to 4th-year apprentices with experience in a continuous manufacturing environment. Applications close on 11 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections via EWP to determine equipment condition
• Isolate equipment and lead preventative and corrective maintenance tasks
• Carry out fault-finding and defect elimination to keep equipment running reliably in a continuous manufacturing environment
• Assist with procurement of consumables, tools and spares for routine and shutdown maintenance using the SAP computerised maintenance management system
• Improve maintenance practices and strategies, and report inspection findings

Required profile

• Electrical trade qualifications, ideally working towards a Diploma or willing to complete it
• Current NSW Electrical License
• Technical experience in an industrial, manufacturing environment
• Strong commitment to safety
• Initiative in carrying out equipment repairs

Required skills

• Experience with overhead cranes, AC and DC drives and control systems, and live rail power distribution infrastructure (desired)
• Experience with AC/DC motors
• Fault finding and problem solving
