Electrical / AutoCAD Design Drafter

About the role

Randstad is partnering with a leading Australian manufacturing company to recruit an Electrical / AutoCAD Design Drafter. The role turns 2D designs into high-spec industrial equipment on the factory floor, working alongside Design Leads, Senior Project Managers and shop-floor technicians. It is a full-time position based in Kings Park, South Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop complete drawing packages from early concept layouts through to final Issue for Construction (IFC).
• Produce accurate mechanical layouts, single-line schematics, wiring diagrams and technical fabrication documentation.
• Work directly with workshop and assembly teams to troubleshoot design issues and ensure panels are practical and fit for manufacture.
• Apply Australian Standards and project specifications to deliver compliant, high-quality, cost-effective designs.
• Manage revisions, engineering change orders (ECOs) and drawing registers across project timelines.

Required profile

• 2 to 5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience, preferably in an electrical or manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with low voltage (LV) switchboards, control panels or power distribution is a bonus but not essential.
• A practical, problem-solving mindset with a sharp eye for drafting accuracy and detail.
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaboration with workshop and engineering teams.
