Duty Technician – Maintenance

About the role

The Duty Technician will join the Engineering team at Novotel & ibis Sydney on Darling Harbour, ensuring the hotels remain safe, functional and visually appealing for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and carry out preventative and reactive work across rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house facilities.
• Perform general building maintenance, fault finding and repairs on plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, air‑conditioning and mechanical systems.
• Maintain external façades, high‑traffic areas and complete painting, patching, wall‑covering and finishing works to a high standard.
• Conduct routine inspections, record work orders in the maintenance management system and ensure compliance with WHS requirements.

Required profile

• Positive, proactive attitude with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated maintenance experience (desirable).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on a rotating 7‑day roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Basic plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and air‑conditioning knowledge.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and painting equipment.
• Experience in wall covering installation, caulking and grouting.
