Dual Trade Fitter - Food Manufacturing (Afternoon Shift)

About the role

An established, rapidly expanding food manufacturing business is seeking a dual trade fitter for a permanent afternoon shift in Dandenong. The role covers hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance, including fault finding, installation, commissioning and upgrades across a modern production environment. The business has major plant upgrades underway and works across multiple Victorian sites.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on production and processing equipment
• Mechanical fault finding and repairs on conveyors, packaging lines, motors and production machinery
• Electrical fault finding, testing and repairs
• Install, commission and upgrade plant and machinery
• Work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Perform welding and fabrication work as required
• Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and technical documentation
• Support planned maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work safely at heights when required, use maintenance management systems and follow site procedures

Required profile

• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting and an electrical trade qualification or relevant electrical licence
• Previous maintenance experience in food manufacturing or a similar production environment
• Experience with conveyors, motors, packaging machinery and production equipment
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
• Comfortable working at heights

Required skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting ability
• Computer literacy and experience using maintenance systems
• Problem-solving skills and commitment to workplace safety
