Drug and Alcohol Counselling Clinician

About the role

Albury Wodonga Health is seeking a Drug and Alcohol Counselling Clinician to join its Community Drug and Alcohol Team. The clinician supports individuals with substance use disorder or dependence using a harm reduction counselling style. The position is open to early career candidates who want to develop their skills, and it is a permanent, part-time opportunity.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Allied Health
• Current AHPRA registration where applicable, with no restrictions on area of practice
• Foundational knowledge of drug classifications, intoxication, withdrawal and Medically Assisted Opioid Treatment
• Current Class C driver's licence with no restrictions
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in the drug and alcohol field

Required skills

• Assessment, case planning, treatment and discharge planning
• Harm minimisation principles in a drug and alcohol setting
• Critical thinking and problem solving in a health setting
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and clear written and verbal communication
• Computer literacy and use of electronic medical records
