Driving Instructor

About the role

NRMA is hiring a full-time, permanent driving instructor for its driving school, which won the 2026 Most Loved Driving School award. The role teaches independent driving using the NRMA Driver Training Curriculum, with opportunities to deliver the NSW Safer Drivers Course, become an Older Driver Assessor and train for the corporate driver training program. It is based in Chatswood.

Key responsibilities

• Teach learner drivers tailored lessons based on the NRMA Driver Training Curriculum
• Develop skills to deliver the NSW Safer Drivers Course, become an Older Driver Assessor and authorise corporate driver training
• Provide customer-focused instruction while promoting NRMA products through a needs-based approach

Required profile

• Valid NSW Driving Instructor licence
• Willingness to obtain TfNSW Safer Drivers Course (minimum module 2) accreditation
• Willingness to obtain Older Driver Assessment qualifications when eligible (requires 3 years of driving instructor experience)
• Valid NSW Class C driver's licence and a valid Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
• Available to work a roster Monday to Sunday, 7am to 8pm, with shifts focused on weekends and before and after school hours

• Exceptional customer service, empathy and patience
• Excellent communication across different demographics and driving confidence levels
• Strong understanding of NSW road rules and regulations
• Effective diary management and flexibility to adapt to different learning styles
• Desirable: facilitation skills and willingness to complete Cert IV Training and Assessment and upskill in driver training products
