Driver Trainer – Heavy Vehicle & Dangerous Goods

About the role
Join Select Logistics & Transport as a Driver Trainer, using your heavy‑vehicle expertise to develop and support drivers handling dangerous goods, industrial gases, LPG and cryogenic products. You will combine hands‑on field coaching with classroom training and competency assessments to enhance safety across our transport operations.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver practical and classroom‑based training for new and existing drivers, including dangerous‑goods awareness and defensive driving.
- Conduct competency assessments, in‑cab observations, route assessments and field safety audits for bulk tanker, cylinder and ISO operations.
- Coach and mentor drivers, review performance after incidents, and support ongoing competency reassessments.
- Contribute to training materials, SOPs, toolbox talks and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent.
- Current Multi‑Combination (MC) licence and Dangerous Goods Driver licence.
- Minimum five years of heavy‑vehicle driving experience, including LPG and/or cryogenic tanker operations.
- Experience delivering driver training and competency assessments.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management.
- Understanding of defensive driving, vehicle risk management and dangerous‑goods regulations.
- Ability to coach, mentor and communicate effectively in an operational environment.
