Double Degree Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife Graduate Program 2027

About the role

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is recruiting suitably qualified Double Degree Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives for its Maternity Unit, which is the largest regional health service in Victoria outside Geelong, with 1650 to 1700 births annually and a Level 4 Special Care Nursery caring for more than 400 babies per year. The program starts in February 2027, runs for 12 months at 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE) and supports candidates moving from student to practitioner.

Key responsibilities

• Work in rotations across the Antenatal/Postnatal Ward, Birth Suite, Women's Surgical Unit and Special Care Nursery
• Build practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge through study days and hospital education sessions
• Apply a person and family centred approach to decision making and care planning
• Work as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment
• Practice within a quality and risk management framework

Required profile

• Registered Nurse and Midwife registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Desire to further a career within the AWH Maternity Unit
• Understanding of and ability to work within a quality and risk management framework
