Director, Regulatory Coordination & Strategy

About the role

The Treasury’s Foreign Investment Division is seeking an experienced regulatory leader to head the triage, strategic analysis and reporting functions of the Compliance Enforcement and Regulatory Practice (CERP) branch. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary, the Director will guide senior decision‑makers with clear, actionable insights on compliance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and prioritisation of incoming referrals and compliance matters, applying risk‑based frameworks.
• Develop and maintain triage processes, ensuring timely identification of high‑risk or sensitive issues.
• Produce strategic analysis of compliance trends, translating data into actionable insights for executives and parliamentary reporting.
• Coordinate corporate and parliamentary reporting, and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the senior leadership team, fostering an inclusive and productive culture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, enforcement or related government functions.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong understanding of Australian foreign investment legislation, administrative law principles and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for senior‑level reporting.
