Director, Mechanical Engineer - Water Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM's Water Infrastructure group is looking for an engaging and collaborative Mechanical Director to join its team, based in either the Sydney or Newcastle office. The role lets you network across the business and with specialists in Australia, New Zealand and globally, while leading and reviewing mechanical design delivery on major water, wastewater and conveyance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review mechanical design delivery across major water, wastewater and conveyance projects.
• Ensure technical and delivery excellence, keeping the highest standards of quality, safety, governance and client satisfaction.
• Guide and mentor engineers and designers, helping build the talent pipeline.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients across a range of sectors.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (CPEng highly regarded).
• Extensive mechanical design experience in water and/or wastewater projects within a consulting and design environment.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and multidisciplinary teams, with strong commercial acumen and business analysis skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Commercial and strategic acumen, able to balance profitability, efficiency and market insight.
