Director, Government Affairs

About the role

Salesforce is seeking a senior Government Affairs professional based in Australia to lead its engagement strategy with national, state and territory governments. Reporting to the VP of Government Affairs and Public Policy for APAC, this role sits at the intersection of public policy, AI governance and public‑sector market enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute proactive government relations strategies on AI governance, cloud security, data sovereignty, privacy and IT modernisation.
• Build trusted relationships with elected officials, ministers, agency executives and procurement leaders to champion digital service delivery.
• Partner with Salesforce Public Sector team to remove commercial friction and unblock procurement pathways.
• Represent Salesforce in tech industry associations and policy coalitions to advance favourable technology policy outcomes.
• Collaborate with Legal, PR, Compliance, Security and Product teams to align policy objectives with corporate goals.
• Serve as the central point of contact and subject‑matter expert for Australian government affairs and regulatory inquiries.

Required profile

• 10+ years of senior government affairs, public policy or legislative experience in technology, government or top‑tier advisory.
• Deep knowledge of Australian federal and state policy‑making, legislative and regulatory processes.
• Strong background in tech procurement frameworks, cloud security standards and emerging technology governance.
• Exceptional written, verbal and executive presentation skills.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, matrixed corporate environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, International Relations or equivalent experience.
