Director, Governance, Projects and Grants

About the role

CreateSA is seeking an experienced leader to drive strategic initiatives that support the growth and sustainability of South Australia's arts, cultural and creative industries. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead a high‑performing team delivering projects, grant programs and governance oversight aligned with the state’s 10‑year cultural policy, A Place to Create.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of strategic projects, programs and initiatives that support A Place to Create.
• Provide expert advice to government on policies and strategies that promote South Australia’s arts, cultural and creative sectors.
• Oversee the administration of government grant programs for artists, organisations and communities.
• Manage governance oversight of statutory boards and organisations in line with legislation and policy.
• Build strong partnerships across government, industry and community stakeholders.
• Monitor emerging trends, opportunities and issues affecting the arts and cultural sectors and deliver high‑level strategic advice.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership experience with a track record of delivering results in fast‑paced, complex environments.
• Significant experience leading strategic initiatives, complex projects and programmes.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to build partnerships across government, industry and community sectors.
• Strong knowledge of government and statutory board governance frameworks and best practice.
• Successful experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and alignment with South Australian Executive Service competencies.
