Director, Data & Analytics

About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking an accomplished Director, Data & Analytics to lead its Health Intelligence function, shape data strategy and deliver trusted insights that improve patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performance Health Intelligence team, defining purpose and building capability.
• Shape and execute RMH’s data and analytics strategy, governance and quality frameworks.
• Oversee major initiatives such as the transition from Qlik to Power BI, implementation of AI‑supportive tools and modernisation of the data environment.
• Engage with executives, clinicians, operational leaders and technical specialists to build confidence in data quality and enable timely access to analytics.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in data and analytics roles with a strong technical foundation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop people, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Excellent judgement to assess emerging technologies and translate complex technical matters into clear organisational priorities.
• Experience in regulated or mission‑driven environments; healthcare background is valuable but not essential.

Required skills

• Expertise with Qlik and Power BI platforms.
• Strong knowledge of data strategy, architecture, governance, analytics, business intelligence and visualisation.
