Director, Data & AI

About the role

As a Director in PwC Australia’s Data & AI practice you will help clients shape and deliver major data and AI transformations, primarily for the Energy and Mining sectors. You will combine consulting expertise with deep technical understanding to advise senior stakeholders, design solutions and lead multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives in Energy and Mining.
• Lead complex Data & AI consulting engagements from strategy through production deployment.
• Advise on Data & AI strategy, architecture, platforms, operating models and technology choices.
• Shape end‑to‑end solutions covering data engineering, modern platforms, analytics, machine learning, Generative AI and enterprise integration.
• Coach and oversee multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, data scientists and consultants.
• Drive business development by identifying opportunities, shaping propositions and delivering proposals.
• Contribute to market presence through thought leadership and industry engagement.

Required profile

• Significant experience building executive relationships in Energy and Mining.
• Proven track record of winning consulting sales pursuits and delivering data‑driven business outcomes.
• Broad technical awareness across Data & AI, able to guide architects, engineers and data scientists.
• Experience delivering production‑grade AI/ML solutions, including Generative and emerging agentic AI.
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture, platforms, pipelines and analytics.
• Practical knowledge of cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, GCP) and platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
• Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI, security and risk considerations.
• Leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams and development of technical capability.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Commercial mindset with experience shaping client opportunities and proposals.
