DevOps Engineer – Hybrid Contract (12 months)

About the role

Horizon Digital, a Perth‑based custom software and AI consultancy, is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a major client’s industrial transformation program. You will own the CI/CD, container platforms, infrastructure‑as‑code, and observability layers that support mission‑critical AI and distributed systems across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mission‑critical systems.
• Manage Kubernetes‑based platforms and containerised workloads.
• Implement infrastructure‑as‑code and environment automation.
• Enable reliable deployments across hybrid cloud and on‑prem (AWS, VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Build observability into production: logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Drive reliability, performance, and scalability of production environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists on deployment patterns and incident response.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• Strong Linux administration with scripting in Bash or Python.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, or Artifactory.
• AWS experience (EC2, Lambda, SageMaker) and familiarity with VMware.
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Loki.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and networking fundamentals.
• Background in industrial, operational technology, or large‑scale enterprise environments is desirable.
