Design Operations Manager

About the role

Compass Group Australia is looking for a Design Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its National Design Studio, supporting graphic and interior design projects across the group. Reporting to the Design manager, the role manages studio workflow, coordinates projects and ensures designers have the structure, resources and support they need. It is about 80% design operations and project coordination and 20% graphic design support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage studio workflow, resource allocation and project scheduling, balancing business priorities with available capacity
• Coordinate projects from briefing through to final delivery
• Translate stakeholder requirements into actionable briefs and align priorities, timelines and expectations
• Monitor studio capacity, risks and delivery performance
• Coordinate freelancers, suppliers and external partners when required
• Drive improvements to studio processes, systems and reporting
• Provide hands-on graphic design support during peak periods and leave coverage

Required profile

• Experience managing workflow, resources or projects in a creative, design, marketing or agency environment
• Experience in studio operations, traffic management, project coordination or creative workflow management
• Strong understanding of design, branding and creative production processes
• Highly organised, able to balance multiple priorities and maintain strong stakeholder relationships

Required skills

• Practical graphic design skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
• Experience using Microsoft 365 and project or resource management systems
• Planning, reporting and organisational skills
