Design Manager - Defence and Security

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced and motivated Design Manager to lead the design delivery of a portfolio of Estate Works Program (EWP) projects under the Project Delivery Services (PDS) contract. The role coordinates multi-disciplinary design teams, ensures technical quality and manages programme and budget performance, working closely with project managers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the resourcing, coordination and delivery of design packages across a portfolio of projects
• Manage programme, scope, budget and design quality to ensure successful project outcomes
• Work with project managers, technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver compliant solutions
• Drive safe design practices and ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation and client requirements
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants to meet milestones on time and within budget
• Support risk, change and document management throughout the project lifecycle
• Provide clear, timely and transparent communication on progress, issues and recommended actions
• Contribute to team capability, technical leadership and continuous improvement across the design function

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in design management, engineering delivery or multidisciplinary project coordination
• Strong understanding of project delivery across scope, programme, budget, quality and risk
• Ability to lead and influence diverse technical teams and external partners
• Experience in regulated environments applying relevant standards and governance requirements
• Citizen of Australia and able to achieve a current baseline security clearance
