Design Lead – Health Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Design Lead to shape the future of healthcare design across Australia. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams on major hospital and health infrastructure projects, influencing strategy, and delivering integrated, high‑performing designs.

Key responsibilities

• Guide multidisciplinary design teams across major hospital and health infrastructure projects.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to shape project strategy and ensure design aligns with clinical and operational outcomes.
• Lead detailed technical discussions on building services, health planning and architecture to deliver integrated designs.
• Oversee project delivery from concept through to completion, balancing innovation, risk and value.
• Contribute to Aurecon’s national health strategy and expand client relationships in the sector.

Required profile

• 15+ years’ experience leading major health or complex building projects in Australia.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams and deliver outcomes aligned with client, clinical and operational goals.
• Strong technical grounding in building design, services integration and project governance.
• Extensive experience in mechanical and medical‑gas design on large health projects.
• Demonstrated client relationship management, business development and senior‑level influencing.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
