Design Engineer – Temporary Works & Methods

About the role

McConnell Dowell is seeking a Design Engineer to provide expertise in temporary works and construction methodologies across a diverse portfolio of marine, water, pipeline and civil infrastructure projects in Australia. You will work from concept through to delivery, collaborating with bid teams, project engineers and external stakeholders to create safe, efficient and buildable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop temporary works designs and construction methodologies for tenders and live projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications and detailed drawings.
• Support bid teams with innovative engineering solutions that enhance competitiveness.
• Review and verify designs, lift plans and related documentation.
• Identify and manage safety, engineering and environmental risks through Safety‑in‑Design processes.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and constructible.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Structural or a related engineering discipline.
• Eligibility for RPEQ, RPEV and Chartered status.
• Approximately 5+ years of experience in construction, infrastructure or engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian design codes and standards.
