Design Engineer – Fire Protection

About the role

Our client, a designer and manufacturer of bespoke fire protection equipment, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their Sydney team. The role involves developing new fire protection products from concept through to production, using advanced 3D CAD tools and collaborating across disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Design a range of new fire protection products using 3D CAD.
• Create detailed technical drawings and maintain BOMs.
• Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners and internal departments to ensure timely delivery.
• Produce documentation, project reports and update MRP system entries.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in design engineering, R&D or mechanical engineering within the fire protection sector.
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Design Engineering or related field.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong project management skills with attention to deadlines and budgets.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
• Experience designing with sheet metal, machined components and injection‑molded plastics.
• Ability to produce technical drawings and maintain accurate BOMs.
• Familiarity with MRP systems for parts entry.
