Design Co-ordinator / Design Engineer

About the role

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Design Coordinator/Engineer for Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. The Beerwah Coast Connect Alliance, comprising Laing O'Rourke, Hatch and Georgiou, will deliver the Stage 1 Brownfield Package of The Wave, covering a new Beerwah station and public precinct, rail upgrades, a stabling yard and a viaduct over Steve Irwin Way.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support across project bidding, tendering and delivery phases.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Design Managers and project teams to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
• Contribute to design development, alternative construction methodologies and DfMA solutions.
• Support Digital Engineering, including model coordination, planning, clash detection and digital delivery processes.
• Champion safety, wellbeing and environmental culture, embedding Safety in Design principles.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in design engineering with knowledge of design codes, specifications, technical problem solving and quality assurance.
• Ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised, with strong planning, communication and technical coordination skills.
