Dental Assistant

About the role

An established dental practice in Hobart is seeking a motivated Dental Assistant to join its team. The position is full-time on a 9-day fortnight, with part-time arrangements considered for the right candidate. The successful candidate must be able to cover both practice locations: Hobart (149 Macquarie Street) and Rosny Park (26 Bayfield Street).

Key responsibilities

• Assist dentists and dental hygienists in a variety of treatment procedures.
• Set up and sterilise dental instruments and equipment.
• Manage patient care, from giving instructions to ensuring comfort.
• Contribute to maintaining health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Previous dental assisting experience is preferred, though a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
• Friendly, approachable, well organised, reliable and motivated, with good time management and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently while contributing to a supportive team.
• Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for patient care.
• Comfortable using computers and learning practice management systems.
