Dean of Maths and Science

About the role

Southern Hills Christian College, a K-12 Christian school in Bedfordale, Western Australia, is looking for a competent and passionate Dean of Maths and Science to teach Secondary Science. The position is full-time and permanent, starting 1 January 2027. The Dean leads the Learning Areas for Science and Mathematics, providing strategic, instructional and curriculum leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead curriculum excellence, teaching practice and assessment standards to drive outstanding student outcomes.
• Develop, mentor and inspire staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Manage resources, budgets and workplace safety effectively.
• Deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences that support the diverse needs of every student.
• Contribute to the spiritual, academic, sporting, cultural and social life of the College community.
• Model Christian values and professional excellence through ongoing learning and adherence to College policies.

Required profile

• A personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and active membership of a Christian Church, in line with the Association's Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
• Qualified Secondary Science Teacher with a strong understanding of contemporary teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation practices.
• Current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration and a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to apply.
• Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills across students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Required skills

• Differentiated instruction and use of technology to meet diverse student needs.
• Desirable: formal study in Christian Education, experience in the advertised position, and experience with a digital learning management system.
