Data Protection Steward (12-Month Fixed Term)

About the role

Join ING's Data Office as a Data Protection Steward on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Data Protection Lead, you will help strengthen ING Australia’s data protection capability by working closely with business, technology, risk and data teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business, technology, risk and data teams to embed privacy and data protection practices.
• Provide guidance on privacy obligations, data protection requirements and risk management.
• Support Privacy by Design across projects and change initiatives.
• Drive data retention, deletion and lifecycle management activities.
• Contribute to governance reporting, risk assessments and stakeholder engagement.
• Support continuous improvement of ING's privacy, data protection and AI governance capabilities.

Required profile

• Experience in privacy, data protection, data governance, risk management or information management.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of Australian privacy requirements and data protection frameworks.
• Ability to communicate complex risks and recommendations clearly.

Required skills

• Experience supporting DPIAs, Privacy by Design, RoPAs, data retention and data lifecycle management.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP, CDMP are advantageous.
