Data Engineering Lead

About the role

HUB24 is seeking a collaborative and technically strong Data Engineering Team Lead to design, deliver, and evolve data platforms and pipelines across its digital and enterprise landscape. The role balances strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, guiding modern data architecture while mentoring a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop an inclusive team of data engineers, providing mentorship and career development.
• Design, develop and maintain systems for Engage and myHUB platforms, building and optimising Databricks‑based batch and real‑time pipelines.
• Guide scalable, secure and maintainable data architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and governance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Cloud, DevOps/SRE, Cybersecurity and business stakeholders to translate needs into data solutions.
• Embed secure‑by‑design principles, data quality practices, testing, lineage, monitoring and documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement in security, resilience and engineering practices, integrating AI where valuable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers and delivering complex data solutions.
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Experience in regulated financial services environments is a plus.

Required skills

• Databricks (or similar) and high‑volume data systems.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud‑native managed data services.
• Streaming and real‑time data processing.
• OLTP systems knowledge; NoSQL experience beneficial.
• APIs, event‑driven architectures and micro‑services.
• Data warehousing, analytics ecosystems and scalable reporting platforms.
• Data governance, security and privacy principles, including secure‑by‑design.
• AI integration and emerging technologies.
• Agile methodologies (SAFe or similar).
