Data Analyst

About the role

Fusion Markets is looking for a Data Analyst to join its small, high‑performing Data Team in Melbourne. You will work on the reporting and analytics platform that powers the business, using a modern cloud stack and collaborating closely with data engineers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Close analytical tickets: clarify requests, define metrics, deliver answers and confirm stakeholder satisfaction.
• Build and maintain reporting dashboards in Hex, ensuring accuracy over time.
• Improve the data model using dbt and SQL: extend models, add tests, document assumptions and follow team conventions.
• Debug reporting issues quickly, identify root causes and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Work like an owner: ship changes via GitHub pull requests, participate in code reviews and document decisions in Notion.

Required profile

• Strong familiarity with financial markets and an understanding of what matters to traders.
• Daily use of GitHub, SQL, dbt and Python as core tools.
• Analytical rigour with a defensible chain of reasoning from data to conclusions.
• Commitment to following existing team conventions rather than reinventing processes.
