Customer Field Technician I - Taree / Forster

About the role

nbn is looking for people based in Taree or Forster to join its internal workforce as a Customer Field Technician. This is a permanent, full-time, hands-on, customer-focused role where you work independently to install, repair and maintain nbn services in homes and businesses, helping connect communities. Working hours are between 7am and 7pm, with flexibility depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Complete a variety of tasks across different nbn technologies, including installations, repairs and maintenance.
• Install copper or fibre cabling and set up customer equipment.
• Identify and fix faults.
• Support customers in their homes or businesses, keeping them informed throughout the process.
• Follow safe work practices and nbn's safety procedures at all times.

Required profile

• No previous telecommunications experience needed; full training is provided.
• Enjoy hands-on work such as problem-solving and feel comfortable speaking with customers.
• Background in trades, technical jobs or customer-facing roles is highly valued, such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, labouring, construction, mechanical work, hospitality or manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and deliver quality work.
• Strong commitment to safety and clear communication skills.
• Current, clean driver's licence.
• Full working rights in Australia; a criminal history check and pre-employment medical assessment are required.
